From the Courtroom to HGTV: Meet Dallas Attorney and Interior Designer Chalon Clark

Award-winning attorney and founder of Design Redefined brings her distinctive design perspective to a national audience as a contestant on HGTV’s Renovation Resort Showdown.

Award-winning trial attorney and interior designer Chalon Clark is proving that success doesn’t have to fit into a single career path. By day, Clark is a practicing attorney at an AmLaw 100 law firm. Beyond the courtroom, she has built a thriving interior design business, Design Redefined, known for creating culturally curated spaces that tell a story.

Now, Clark is bringing her distinctive perspective to a national audience as a featured contestant on the new season of HGTV’s Renovation Resort Showdown, which premiered July 1.

Hosted by Scott McGillivray and Bryan Baeumler, star of Renovation Island, Renovation Resort Showdown features four contractor and designer duos competing to transform waterfront cabins at a lakeside resort. Throughout the competition, contestants must balance creativity, design excellence, budgets, timelines, and real-world renovation challenges. At the end of the season, one team will be crowned champion and awarded a $100,000 prize.

Clark joins the competition alongside friend and contractor Liz Truluck. While her path to television may be unconventional, she credits much of her success in design to the skills she developed throughout her legal career.

“People are often surprised to learn that the same skills that make me successful as a trial lawyer translate directly into design,” said Clark. “Both require listening carefully, solving complex problems, advocating for a vision, and paying attention to every detail. Whether I’m preparing for a trial or designing a space, my goal is the same: to create something intentional, impactful, and meaningful.”

Clark’s ability to blend analytical thinking with creativity has become a hallmark of her work. She approaches every project with a focus on understanding her clients’ stories and translating them into spaces that feel personal, functional, and elevated.

Beyond showcasing her design expertise, Clark hopes her journey encourages others to pursue the passions they’ve placed on hold.

“I hope I’m an inspiration to anyone who feels stuck in a career that no longer reflects everything they are,” Clark said. “Your passions don’t have to die because you’ve become successful in one area of life. You can make room for them. I’m still a trial lawyer, but I’ve also built a design business and now find myself on HGTV. You don’t have to choose just one version of yourself.”

Her appearance on HGTV further reinforces Dallas-Fort Worth’s reputation as a hub for exceptional creative talent while introducing viewers nationwide to her unique perspective as both a lawyer and designer. In addition to her television debut, Clark has been featured in Martha Stewart Living, House Beautiful, and numerous other publications as an authority on design and interiors.

Fans can watch Chalon Clark compete on the new season of HGTV’s Renovation Resort Showdown on HGTV.
